Learn to Rip and Burn with AnyBurn… CDs/DVDs not Required

At first glance you might think AnyBurn is just used for burning CDs. After reading this article you may want to add it to your toolbelt. Why? The short answer is that you can use it to create image files on USB drives, extract files from drive images, rip CD/DVDs and more … but I’m getting ahead of myself.

Downloading AnyBurn

When you download Anyburn, you will need to download either the 32 bit or the 64 bit version. You can also choose to download a portable version that you don’t even need to install first. This can be useful if you want to run it from any pc on a portable flash drive. If you get the regular installer, you can install the software by just hitting the Next buttons and accepting the license terms. You should get an icon placed right on your desktop for easy access.

Accessibility of AnyBurn

It really couldn’t be easier to get things done with AnyBurn. If you’re using a mouse, AnyBurn just uses standard Windows controls, so you can just click on the button with the appropriate label, such as Rip Audio CD to mp3/flac/ape/wav…. If you are a screen reader user, you only need to TAB/SHIFT+TAB your way through the screens. Each button will bring up a standard Windows dialog box that will allow you to carry out the given task. For instance, you could Tab to the Rip Audio CD to mp3/flac/ape/wav… button and hit SPACE or ENTER on it to start that particular task.

I imagine that most will want to probably rip CDs with this software. However, I can say that I have also used this software to edit disk images and create bootable USB drives. As such, this software is quite versatile. I hope you get as much out of it as I have!

  1. No, but you can get a program called DVD audio extractor. It is completely accessible, and I did a review of it a while back on the blog.

  2. Will this rip DVD’s which I have purchased and want to burn a copy for use in our car so that the original DVD will not be destroyed? Many programs will not do this do to copyright protection. I’m not a pirate. This is for my own use.

Wow! That software sounds like what I’ve been looking for. Now As a Screen Reader user, I can get rid of Nero.
