Celebrating 5 years in Business!
Five years ago today, Web Friendly Help was officially open for business! As most inventions go, necessity eventually won the day, and dragged me out of my comfort zone, yes, kicking and screaming!
For years, I’d say things like, “this Access Technology program sure would be better if…” fill in the blank. One day, after a nice rant, like a bolt from the blue, I thought, “hey, why don’t you just start your own business and do it your way?” I quickly dismissed the idea. I’m not an entrepreneur, I don’t speak French, and I can’t even spell the word! However, that stubborn idea never left my twisted mind.
So, I began reading tons of books on starting businesses. I just didn’t know what I didn’t know. It seemed that all the successful businesses out there wouldn’t really fit what I wanted to do. Imagine that, no books on how to start an Access Technology business in 5 easy steps. Next, I started researching technology to customize what I wanted to do. Finally, on August 30th, 2019, I had all the parts fitted together. I took the plunge before my chicken wings got too big.
I still remember the excitement I felt when I got my very first customer, getting paid, and truly being able to help someone out. It was, and still is, a true blessing. That person is still my customer today! How cool is that! Soon after I started, I realized that there was a need for timely virtual assistant services and audio editing services. I didn’t see that coming when I started. One of the interesting facets about starting a business is that you don’t have to be pigeonholed into one thing. Now I have Access Technology, Virtual Assistant, and audio editing services, all things that I love doing, that benefit others, and that people are happy to pay for.
I’d like to thank all of my customers, both present and past. Some of my customers have been with me from the beginning! I value and appreciate them, and I’m honored that I still get to help them on a regular basis.
I’d also like to thank my wife, Judy. She must have heard 1000 spitball ideas before it all got up and running. She’s always been very supportive, especially during the transition phase, and that can be a stressful place for everyone.
Lastly, I’d like to thank The Lord Jesus Christ. He’s given me inspiration, courage, and that spark of an idea that just wouldn’t leave me, for a good reason.

I’ve always said the concept of WFH was ahead of it’s time. I remember six or seven years ago when WFH was just an idea (and not the only idea) Casey was thinking about. As a friend, I wanted to see it work, but didn’t know if it could. I mean how is someone going to find or use a site offering access tech services… if they need help with their access tech? It seemed like a dream; not impossible, but very nearly.
I was wrong. The time is now. It’s awesome to see what Casey has accomplished. There’s nothing wrong with having an idea, a goal, or even a dream. I have crazy goals and dreams of my own. But it takes hard work and dedication to turn an idea into a business. It takes even more work to make it a success. But more than anything, it takes a genuine love of what you do. Part of the reason Casey and I became friends all those years ago was a shared love of computers and tech. He helped me get into JAWS scripting back in the day, and it’s been helping people for years. Keep it up, and Qapla!
